Please read an informational letter from Mrs. McColgan, who will be hosting our annual Geography Bee.
Hello! I am so excited that you are interested in participating in Crestview’s annual Geography Bee. Please carefully read over the following information.
What is the Geography Bee?
At Crestview, we will have a preliminary round held on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 after school in my room, 415, from 2:30 – 3:20. Students must be in a seat ready to go at 2:30 in order to participate. If that day is a snow day, please watch my Twitter @7gold geography for the rescheduled date.
The top 10 students from the preliminary round will participate in the Final Championship round which is scheduled on Thursday, January 19, 2017 in my room, 415, from 2:30 – 3:20. Students must be in a seat ready to go at 2:30 in order to participate. In the case of a snow day on Tuesday, please watch my Twitter for the rescheduled date.
The winner of our school championship round will then take a written test administered by me after school.
If the student passes the qualifying test, they will go on to the State Geography Bee which is held on March 31, 2017. The place, times etc. will be announced when the qualifier receives their email (mentioned above). If the student qualifies they must make arrangements to get to and from the Bee; the school does not provide transportation.

There is a wealth of Geography information on the internet – play games, fill in and study maps, download apps. I cannot direct you to the type of questions typical of the Bee.
If you have further questions, please feel free to come see me or email me. I look forward to an exciting Bee – see you after school on January 17!
