We have had a busy month of February, and we are gearing up for March.
We hope you can come out and see the wonderful spring play, Knights of the Rad Table. There will be tons of fun 90s costumes and humor! It is March 2nd and March 3rd at 7pm.
6th grade Silver team leaves for camp on Monday march 6th, and returns on Thursday March 9th.
6th grade Blue team will be attending camp April 4th-7th.
The students will do an emergency weather drill while at camp, and all communications regarding any severe weather at camp will come through the school system. Please also refer to the packing lists and do not allow your students to bring any "banned" items to camp.
The district is also giving a character education and climate survey. The survey takes less than 10 minutes and we would love your feedback.
Lastly, as the weather starts to warm up please help remind your children of the dress code at school. Students should have a jacket/cardigan, or zip up hoodie over tank tops. Backs and bellies should be covered too. Sometimes kids grow a lot over summer, and the shorts get a little shorter, so please make sure the shorts they wear to school are a modest length. Thank you for talking with your students about dressing appropriately for school.
If you have any questions, please contact your grade level counselors and administrators. We are hear to help you and your students.
We are having a great 2017 and we will have a very busy and exciting next few weeks! Here are a few items that may affect you and our students:

Fourth quarter is always a fun and exciting time at CMS and
we look forward to all of the wonder memories that are still to come from the
2015-2016 school year!
Crestview Middle School is gearing up for a great February. Some students experience the dreaded "third quarter slump." Help prevent this phenomenon in your student by asking about his/her goals and what he/she is doing to meet their goals. Encourage your student to get involved in after school activities and service projects to keep school fun and exciting. Be sure to check your student's planner each night, as well as Infinite Campus to monitor upcoming assignments and tests. Many students need a little help from their parents during this part of the school year.
You can also help your student be successful by ensuring he/she eats a healthy breakfast. We have had a rise in the number of students visiting the nurse's office because they are dizzy and have upset stomachs due to not eating breakfast. If your student doesn't like to eat early in the morning, send a healthy snack that can be eaten here at school.
Cell phone referrals are also on the rise. Please remind your student that cell phones may only be used with teacher permission. Students should not be using the phone for any reason in the hallways or class without permission. If you need to reach your student during the day, please call the office, rather than texting your student. We will make sure your child recieves the message.
First Offense: warning by teacher
Second Offense: Discipline referral by teacher and parent contacted by teacher
Third Offense: Discipline referral by teacher and parent contacted by principal.
Subsequent Offenses: Discipline referral by teacher and student will recieve additional consequences assigned by grade-level principal.
CMS Science Fair is beginning February 8th and runs until February 17th. Please
stop by the library to see some amazing science fair exhibits.
Parent Teacher conferences are on Tuesday, February 9th, and Thursday, February 11th from 3:30-7:00. You can sign up using the online program pick-a-time. Slots are limited, so if you are unable to schedule a conference, due to the times being full, you can always contact specific teachers via email or phone call and they will be happy to set up a phone conference or meeting during the daytime team time.
The 8th graders will be attending a Career Fair Field Trip at Kemp Auto Museum on February 24th from 8:30-11:30. This is an opportunity for our 8th grade students to meet with professionals and learn about career opportunities that might interest them. Students should dress professionally on this day and come prepared with any questions they might like to ask the presenters.
We are excited to have a great February. Please contact your Grade Level Administrator with any questions.
