We welcome you to the library at Green Pines Elementary School. Everyday is a library day at Green Pines!! Through our flexible access library program, students in grades K-5 can visit the library any day, with passes from their classroom teacher. This open door policy encourages students to read for pleasure, do research when needed, and pursue other small group projects.
We are a busy part of the school. Classroom teachers and our librarian collaborate on a regular basis so that the library skills are directly integrated into the curriculum. The librarian and classroom teachers plan lessons, stories and activities that are a direct link with what the students are learning in the classroom.
The library at Green Pines is proud to have over 16,000 items for checkout including books, CDs, DVDs, and eBooks. In addition, we have 2 classroom areas, a soft-seating area, a Smart-board to be used by all the staff, and 14 student computers.
With the help of parent volunteers, we circulate books, assist students in locating materials, scanning pictures and pursing other activities that enable students to become independent library users, a lifelong skill.
