While the parking lot construction
may be the most noticeable work being done on Eureka High
this summer, it's not the only project the Rockwood School District is undertaking at the school.
Bond issue funds are also going toward renovations on the interior of the building, namely the creation of new spaces for front office and guidance staff. Director Facilities Chris Freund said interior work at Eureka High is almost complete with the start of the school year just around the corner, Aug. 12. Staffers started moving their furniture into the new areas and setting up their offices last week.
The district is also starting the design process for the new STEM – science, technology, engineering and mathematics – lab at Marquette High
. Freund said architectural design discussions are ongoing, and the district plans to start the bid process for construction at the start of 2020. After that, Freund says, the majority of the work on the new Marquette STEM lab will take place in summer 2020 and 2021.
Construction on the Eureka High STEM addition is also in progress.
"We're very appreciative of the community's support, allowing us to do these projects," Chief Financial Officer Paul Northington said. "There's a lot of good work being done throughout the district."
